Making Play Dough for your pre school class


You will need:

·   Cup of salt
·   2 x cups of flour
·   4 x tablespoons of cooking oil
·   2 x cups of water
·   Powder paint or water based dye or food colouring
·   Old saucepan

1. Mix all the ingredients together in a saucepan.  Be careful with the dye as some concentrated dyes as some are extremely strong.  

2. Adult: cook on medium heat for 3 to 5 minutes.  Stirring constantly until the mixture becomes stiff. Store the dough in an airtight container in the refrigerator.  It will last for quite a while and has the consistency of commercially prepared play dough.

If you need addition colour it can be worked in to the dough.

  2. When painting trees and tree branches, I first use a round brush to paint in the main trunk; then I use a smaller brush to add branches and finally a script liner to add the smallest branches. art camps Markham
